USB 2.0 vs USB 3.0

What is the difference between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0? The answer is 10x the difference! USB 2.0 could deliver up to 480Mbps. The newer USB 3.0 is capable of 5Gbps. Using these numbers, that's 10.67x the speed! This won't always be the case but it sounds great on paper.

Another bonus is that USB 3.0 can read and write information at the same time. There are dedicated lanes made specifically for reading or writing which allows for smooth data transfers.

Like the other versions of USB, version 3.0 is backwards compatible to 2.0 devices. However, not all 3.0 devices will work in 2.0 ports but most will work just fine.
